The StarNews reported on 31 December, 2008 that one possible suspect in the Beast of Bolivia mutilations may have been killed.  The Beast of Bolivia stories are related to the famous Beast of Bladenboro stories of the 1950s.  In 2007, a number of dogs, including large pit bulls, were killed quickly and silently in Bolivia, North Carolina by some unknown animal.  The attacks were similar to the Beast of Bladenboro attacks of 1954 and led to the unknown animal being dubbed as the Beast of Bolivia.

On 23 December, 2008, local hunter Herman Faircloth shot and killed a 50 pound bobcat in this area.  This animal would be on the very large for a bobcat.  Could it be possible that this bobcat was behind the 2007 dog attacks.
