What is the Penuma Implant
The Penuma implant was developed in 2004 as a medical grade silicone implant for penis enhancement. It was developed by Dr. James Elist and is also known as an Elist implant by some. This implant has been FDA cleared and is considered by many to be the gold standard of penis enlargement procedures.
The Penuma implant comes in three sizes: large, XL and XXL. The Penuma implant is inserted into the penis through a small incision in the groin near the base of the penis. The implant is placed under the skin of the penis to permanently add girth. The implant stretches the skin and tissue of the penis to make it larger.
The Penuma implant is placed into the penis while under general anesthesia. This outpatient procedure usually takes less than an hour to complete. The procedure provides for natural penis function and is also reversible if desired.

The Results of the Penuma
According to Dr. Elist’s website, the Penuma implant will add 1-2 inches of girth and flaccid length. A study of over 400 men showed that they saw a mid shaft increase in penis circumference of 56.7%. The procedure moved the average flaccid circumference from 8.5 cm (3.346 inches) to 13.4 cm (5.27 inches). Patients in this study showed a very high satisfaction rate with their Penuma implant.
We can see that the Penuma makes a significant difference in in penis girth but the penis length issue is much trickier. The Penuma website makes mention of flaccid length gains but does not go into a lot of detail. Other articles on the web make go a lot further than the official site and make wild claims of 2.5 inch gains in erect and flaccid length gains. These claims (again not made by the Elist, Penuma or any other surgeon’s websites) did not seem like they could be true.
After speaking with the consultants at the office of Dr. Elist, I found that the flaccid length gain from the Penuma is because the implant prevents the penis from retracting completely in its flaccid state. The minimal weight of the implant may have the effect of making the penis hang a little lower. After the implant, the patient will see their penis hanging down to a length similar to when you place a gentle stretch on the penis.
So Does the Penuma Implant Increase Erect Penis Length?
When speaking with the consultant at Dr. Elist’s office, he stated that the implant will not change erect length following surgery. However, some men report an increase in their erect length of their penis after a significant amount of time has passed. This increase in erect length for some has been reported as being up to 1 to 1 1/2 inches once a year has passed from surgery.
The consultant said that if your main goal was erect size increase than the Penuma implant was probably “not wise” to do. Fantastic results with girth and flaccid length are consistently reported but significant erect length gains were not found in all or even a majority of patients.
The gain in erect penis length that some get following the Penuma surgery may be from the extra weight of the implant. Though the implant is not heavy, the weight of the implant may cause the penis to stretch and heal into an elongated form over time. This principle is very similar to that of penis traction devices. Why So much Confusion?

They do not bother to research the topic thoroughly so that when they see penis length gains mentioned, they assume it is both flaccid and erect.
