The Real Truth About Penis Size

The real truth about penis size

According to scientific research, the real truth about penis size is that most men do not measure up to the preference of women. For certain relationships, researchers found that women prefer a penis that is 53% bigger than the average penis. These facts do not seem to match up with the what is promoted line that all “normal” penises between 3.9″ and 6.5″ are equally acceptable to women.

While this article focuses on penis size, it is important to remember that this is not what defines a man. There are so many things that define a man like honor, integrity, work ethic, and taking care of others. Do not let concern about penis size dominate your life. This being said, there is no shame in being concerned about penis size and being curious about how you measure up to the preferences of women.

In this article, we will take a look into how the average size of men compares with the preferences of women. We will also look at what we are told about this by medical professionals and official websites and why this may not match what we find in the real world. After looking at the harsh reality of penis size, we will look at whether it matters and what can be done about it.

What is the Average Size of Men

The largest study into penis size was conducted by the BJU International journal of urology. This extensive 2015 study involved the measurement of over 15,000 penises. According to this study, the average erect penis had a length of 5.16 inches and a girth (circumference) of 4.5 inches. In the flaccid state, the average length was 3.6 inches and the average girth was 3.6 inches.

The following chart contained the distribution of the length measurements of the study:

The distribution of sizes from this study found that in regards to erect measurements 68 percent of men measure between 4.5 and 5.8 inches and 95 percent are in the 3.9- and 6.5-inch range.

What Size do Women Want?

In another 2015 study, researchers from the University of California and the University of New Mexico attempted to determine the penis size preferred by women. In this study, the women participants were presented with 33 different 3D models representing different combinations of length and girth.

The women were asked to pick the 3D that was the closest to their desired penis size in potential partners. For long-term partners, the average response was 6.3 inches in length and 4.8 inches around. For a one-time sexual partner, the average 3D penis model that the women chose was 6.4 inches long and 5.0 inches in circumference.

Another interesting statistic from the study, a full 20% of the women admit to ending a relationship due to their partner’s penis being too small. To make matters worse, another study shows that 16% of women that stay in the relationship admit to being unhappy with the size of their partner’s penis (source).

What seems to be the “Company Line” on Penis Size

A basic search about penis size online turns up some interesting results. The prevalent message by medical professionals and online sources is that any penis that falls into the 95% range of 3.9″ to 6.5″ is normal. If a guy falls into that normal range then he should not be concerned about his penis size. While I understand that these experts are using statistically acceptable practices, this does not translate well into the real world.

If we used this same 95% standard for male height, we would find a normal range 5’4″ to 6’4″ (source). Does this mean that we don’t find a 5’4″ guy to be very short? This is even more noticeable with penis size in that the top end of the range is 66% larger than the bottom end of the range.

The Harsh Truth about Penis Size Preference

According to the study on women’s preferences, the harsh truth is that women prefer a penis that is significantly larger than the average penis. For a long-term relationship, they prefer a penis that is 22% longer than the average. From the distribution in the study, around 99% of men would fall short of this preference. In the girth preference, about 2/3 of men would fall short of the preference for long-term relationships.

For a one-night stand, women prefer a penis that is 24% longer. Less than 1% of men would be able to measure up to this preference. In the girth preference, about 85% of men would fall short of the preference for a one-time relationship.

The size difference is even more significant if you look at the true measure of penis size which is volume. This is the measurement of the actual space taken up by the penis.

Using these calculations, women prefer a penis that is 36% bigger than the average penis for long-term relationships. The preference of women for a one-time experience is a penis that is a whopping 53% bigger. This is a significant difference and does not match the story that we are being told. In general, women prefer penises that are significantly larger than the average.

Why are We Told This Story

We are told the story of all penises between 3.9″ and 6.5″ being normal and basically equal but this does not seem to match up with our reality. I think we are told this because most health professionals think that the facts would just promote small penis syndrome. Small penis syndrome (also known as penile dysmorphic disorder) is a real condition that refers to severe anxiety about penis size (source).

I think that there is a disconnect between what the medical community promotes as normal and what men feel is adequate. To the medical community, anything that is functional is normal. Men in general would prefer what is optimal. So while an old barely running Pinto may be functional to travel back and forth to work, most would prefer to drive a BMW. The medical community continues to promote that the 3.9″ Pinto of the penis world is the equivalent of the 6.4″ BMW.

To relieve anxiety is a noble goal but when the reality is ignored, the whole thing begins to unravel. What you are being told needs to match the world around you.

Another reason that so many medical professionals promote this story of normalcy is that they truly think that there is nothing that can be done. Penis-lengthening surgery alone does not yield great results and can actually have negative results.

There are no pills or medications that will enlarge the penis, so big Pharma has no interest in this. While penis traction devices are an effective and proven method of penis enlargement, it is a relatively cheap one-time purchase that large corporations and medical practices have no interest in promoting due to a lack of profit availability.

Does It Really Matter

For most women, penis size is not really high up there on the list of what matters. If your penis falls into the “normal” range, they are usually much more concerned with things like your looks, your physique, your personality, or your career. Penis size is not even the most important factor when it comes to sexual satisfaction for most women.

But the fact is that penis size does matter to some degree for most women. If it did not matter would there be a preference found that was significantly above average? Would 20% of women have ended a relationship over their partner’s penis being too small? Would it be the subject of so many conversations?

Penis size also matters if it is important to you. Nobody should obsess over penis size as there are obviously more important things out there in the world, but there is nothing wrong with feeling inadequate. Studies show that many men feel this way. In one study, 45% of men reported being unhappy with their penis size (source).

What Can be Done About Penis Size

If you are concerned about your penis size and how it measures up to the preferences of women, there are really only three things that you can do.

  • Get over it. If you can deal with it, then it is not a big deal. Having a smaller penis is not a deal-breaker to most women. As a matter of fact, it is not even a major factor to most. This is really the easiest and most mentally healthy option.
  • Continue to worry about it and have it be a source of anxiety for you. This is obviously not the most recommended or productive choice.
  • Work on enlarging your penis. There are a number of legit ways to enlarge your penis if this is a real big concern to you. There are surgical options that can be expensive and involve some extra work. The top method of penis enlargement that is backed by science is the use of a penis traction device.
